Family literacy is intergenerational learning. It looks at how parents, children, and elders learn literacy skills in their everyday lives, both at home and in their communities. Engaging in family literacy can include: creating shopping lists, following recipes, sorting socks, and enjoying opportunities to learn together.

Family Literacy Day - January 27
In 1999, ABC Life Literacy declared January 27 to be Family Literacy Day, a day “to raise awareness about the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family.”
Literacy Quebec often holds events to increase awareness and create events for families to spend time together.
