Literacy Quebec hosted a kiosk at James Lyng Adult Education Centre’s Mental Health Fair on April 23. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with adult education students and share more about Literacy Quebec’s mission and network, while also highlighting the important link between literacy and mental health.
Stronger literacy skills can help people access support earlier, follow treatment plans more easily, and advocate for themselves with greater confidence.
We were also happy to distribute our mental health resource pamphlets (funding provided by CHSSN and the Public Health Agency of Canada) and Éducaloi’s legal information and resources guide, as well as resource bags filled with postcards, pens, and other goodies. Around 300 students stopped by!
Thank you to the teachers and faculty at James Lyng Adult Education Centre for organizing this event, and to the organizations who hosted kiosks alongside us. It was inspiring to see such a strong sense of collective care and awareness around a topic as important as mental health. We’re grateful to have been part of such a meaningful day.
